Summary of the Books

The Dursleys at Number 41 Privet Drive are ordinary people. They have a son named Dudley who is a little on the healthier side of the weighing scale but is quite an ordinary boy. They also have a scrawny boy living in the Closet Beneath The Stairs. Unfortunately for the Dursleys, their nephew, young Harry Potter is no ordinary child. He is the orphan child of a Wizard and a Witch. And now he's beginning to receive invitations to a place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: a cackling mad-house full of people claiming to do magic according to old Vernon Dursley. So they will do anything to keep him away. But can they, especially when the mail comes in the thousands?

Joanne Rowling is an English writer. She achieved cult-status with seven Harry Potter books, The Tales of Beedle The Bard, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Quidditch Through The Ages. She has also written two murder mystery novels under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith.

Jo completed her B.A. in French and Classics at the University of Exeter. She was awarded the title of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for her contributions to charity and literature.
