I bought this book to prepare the 'world history' part of Civil Services Mains GS Paper I. Considering the lack of good Indian books on the topic, this is a welcome effort. It gives a broad overview of the period 1789 - 1945. There is no coverage of the the post-1945 period. The facts including major events, dates and personalities are given well, but analysis and elaboration is lacking. Not surprising given that the whole topic is covered in just 350 pages.
