  • Description
Hyderabad has 430-years of rich history and it's buildings tell their own stories. The city's built heritage has been vanishing at an alarming rate for the past few decades now. The reasons for this are varied but one of the main reason is the lack of awareness and the sense of ownership among the masses for these heritage structures. This book is aimed towards learning about the fascinating buildings of the city and their intimate histories. This book is the result of three years of extensive research and travel to photograph, document and illustrate the heritage buildings of the city. Most of the buildings discussed in the book are either inaccessible to the general public, abandoned, on the verge of complete destruction or encroached to such extents that the essence of the building has vanished. The illustrations in the book help the reader visualise the buildings in their prime. The book also discusses a few buildings which do not exist anymore but have been painstakingly recreated by accessing photographic evidence and archival maps. This book is the lovechild of the author and his city This book breaks away from the narration of typical anecdotes glorifying the city but instead aims to educate the reader about the significance of the city throughout its existence. By writing this book, the author wishes to educate and kindle love and fascination in the reader that he shares for the city.
