  • Description

India’s Foreign Policy: Retrospect And Prospect is a comprehensive account of how India’s foreign-policy has evolved from 1947 up until the present day.

    Summary Of The Book

India’s Foreign Policy: Retrospect And Prospect will appeal to anyone interested in India’s role in international politics. Ganguly has captured the crux of Indian foreign policies, from the period of 1947 to the present day.

The book includes incisive essays on this very subject. It also includes in depth analyses of national, personal, systemic, and political factors which affect foreign policy. The chapters are presented in the level-of-analysis approach, which is a conceptual scheme frequently used in the study of international relations. The framework examines India’s foreign policies from the points of view of systemic policy-making perspectives.

India’s Foreign Policy: Retrospect And Prospect begins with an introductory chapter written by the editor, where he spells out all the intellectual precursors of the analysis framework, and applies this to subsequent chapters. The text contains 15 chapters or essays, along with a list of figures and tables, and suggestions for further reading. The book is organized according to India’s relations with its states, and neighbouring countries in global order. The book provides crisp accounts of developments in other countries. Some of the essays which readers can expect are The Genesis Of Nonalignment, The Evolution Of India’s Nuclear Policies, and Evolution Of India's China Policy.

This text is well suited for students pursuing political science and international relations, scholars, analysts, policymakers, and journalists. This book is one of the few books to provide a complete account of the evolution of India’s foreign policy. This text is edited by a well-respected political scientist.

    Too Good...

we can say that this is one of the best book we can posses on India's Foreign Relations [bilateral]... the beauty of this book is that each chapter is contributed by a specialist in that field... each chapter on indo-us; indo-pak... all SAARC countries and major super powers hardly is 30 pages each... but gives a detailed and an in depth analysis...
surely a great buy... and highly recommended for upsc paper - 2 GS mains [bilateral part] and political science optional students...

    Really Nice

Although the books content is just great, the paper quality is just worse. Doesn't expected such a poor quality of paper.
