This book by acclaimed author Gurcharan Das gives its readers a view of the economic and social transformation of India. The story is based on the nation that still continues to rise from poverty to prosperity.
Summary of the Book
The book is an interesting story of India’s economy. It discusses our country’s rise from the terror of poverty to becoming a flourishing country with many clashes in ideas that have occurred along the way. He shows us how the policies that India had made after 1947 had condemned the nation to a stumbling economy until the year 1991. After this, the government had made changes that made way for India to experience growth of unexpected heights. Das has traced all of these developments and weaved a record with contemporary history. India Unbound is the perfect book for those who want a detailed introduction to contemporary India and comes with a new afterword that updates it to 2007.
