this is a nice book, ...............if you are preparing for upsc then it is a best book for new students.....its best part is ancient history and modern history....medieval is good............so read it carefully ........if u solved all objectives then u can fight all questions in the exams related to history..........

A decent work by the author....one would require to read another book for reference before making a compact note for an all india exam....but overall..its good for bank,and staff selection related jobs....

Good book for systematic study
The approach used in the book makes it very easy to get hold of important concepts. It would be better for beginners to start with Tata Mc Graw HIll General Studies book for gettingan initial idea before jumping into this one.

needs improvement
the book is very detailed and analytical for ancient India. Ok for medieval period. But the modern section require major revision, modification and most importantly addition. many areas are not adequately dealt with or are simply ignored. it seems the author may have become tired by the time he reached the modern section and just wanted to finish the book in a hurry!

Good but not the best !
Though the book provides a comprehensive overview of Indian history , the approach is more factual without an analytical background. Majumdar's An Advanced History of India is a better book in terms of in-depth analysis of events.

Poor content but good stock of MCQs at the end of each chapter. But plz don't use this as your text book. There are much better books available in the market. U can use old NCERTS. Thanks to flipkart for its as usual swift delivery.
