Institute Industry Interaction and its Influence on Skill Development: The Case of Kerala (English, Paperback, B. Shaji, Prakash Pillai R)

Getting the young generation productively employed is a challenge faced by any nation. This is more of relevant to Kerala, the south Indian state, which has relatively higher ratio of youngsters in its population and has the highest rate of unemployment (12.5%) among the other states in the country. The unemployment is more prevalent among the secondary (56%) and higher secondary (23%) certificate holders. One among the reasons for this is the school curriculum which is inadequate in making them employable to the demands of industry. This book analyses the skill level of human resources in the existing Vocational Higher Secondary Institutions in the state of Kerala. It investigates the interactions/participations of industry in all areas of skill training in these institutions by exploring whether these interactions are capable of making any influence on skill development of the learners.
