  • Description

This book has been a popular textbook for the intermediate level study of microeconomics for the past 20 years.

    Summary Of The Book

Microeconomics is a worm's eye view of the economy. It takes in all the details and uses the information to understand how the market works.

Microeconomics studies the spending and decisions of individual consumers. It studies the factors that affect the spending behavior of consumers, and tries to determine how these influence the market. This branch of study is concerned with the analysis of all the dynamics of supply and demand.

Microeconomics studies how various choices by consumers influence the decisions of business firms. It is a study of the interaction between buyers and sellers.

This book, divided into a total of 37 chapters, goes into the subject in detail. It contains the chapters such as The Market, Budget Constraints, Preferences, Utility, Choice, Demand, Revealed Preference, Slutsky Equation, Buying and Selling, Intertemporal Choice, Asset Markets, Uncertainty, Risky Assets, Consumer's Surplus, Market Demand, Equilibrium, Auctions, Technology, Profit Maximization, Cost Curves, Firm Supply, Industry Supply, Monopoly, Monopoly Behavior, Factor Markets, Oligopoly, Game Theory, Game Applications, Behavioral Economics, Exchange, Production, Welfare,  Externalities, Information Technology, Public Goods, and Asymmetric Information.

An Excellent book on Micro Theory

This book is an ideal bridge between undergraduate micro and graduate level micro of Mass Collel or Jehle-Reny. The exposition of concepts is lucid. And use of mathematics is minimal. For more rigorous mathematical treatment of the subject refer to the above stated two books- preferably Jehle-Reny first.

This book can act as an excellent reference text to further elaborate on concepts if your core text book is some undergraduate level book like Mankiw or Pindyck and Rubinfeld. Compeletely so...

    Terrific purchase

best book. Must read if u want to become a master of economics.
I found four books of microeconomics to be the best, starting from
Ncert 12th, then Pindyck and Rubin field, then Nicholson and Snyder, and then finally Hal Varian.
If you have some knowledge, then skip the first two.
Snyder and Varian is must for clearing a good competitive exam like DU MA entrance, IES, and so on.
so purchase this book without any doubt.

    Best introductory book in Microeconomics

I have found this book to be one of the best introductory books in Microeconomics. The fluent language starts explaining the subject from the scratch and hence makes it easy for everybody. Little mathematical background is needed. Understanding about high school standard maths will make the way smoother. Must buy for MBA and bachelors in economics students.
