This textbook has been prepared as per the Core Module Syllabus of the UGC. In this book an attempt has been made to give fundamental concept of environmental studies to the undergraduate students in Science, Humanities, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Medicine and Law. It has been written mainly based on the module syllabus, designed by the UGC; however, some additional topics, prescribed by the North East Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, in the syllabus for undergraduate course, have been incorporated in the book.
