Very nice book to start a journey on Indian classical music. Writer has very lucidly explained the concepts and practises of music.

This book is not informative. You will learn much much more about Hindustani music in wikipedia even. It is very unfortunate that this has been botched so badly, a comprehensive guide to listening to music with references to listen to as you go along is really needed.
