About Ryuho Okawa

Ryuho Okawa is a Japanese spiritual leader and founder of the Institute for Research in Human Happiness (IRH). He has devoted his entire life to the exploration of the spirit world and ways to human happiness. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he starting working for a major Tokyo-based trading house and studied international finance in New York. In 1986, he established Institute for Research in Human Happiness. He was the target of a failed assassination attempt by Aum Shinrikyo using VX agent.
