The School of Social Sciences (SSS) at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) offers Masters of Arts in Sociology (MA Sociology) which is oriented towards the study of social systems, sociological theories, research methodology and other areas of study like sociology of knowledge, professions, social psychology, anthropological theories, sociology of gender, cultural studies, Indian school thought, ethnic minorities and marginal groups, social ecology, social demography and sociology of science/medicine. An entrance examination is conducted for admission in MA Sociology at JNU. The present book has been designed for the aspirants preparing for MA Sociology Entrance Examination at JNU. This book has been divided into five chapters namely Sociological Thinker, Concepts in Sociology, Theories in Sociology, Methods of Sociological Enquiry and Processes of Social Change & Development, each containing chapterwise previous years’ solved questions. Each chapter in the book contains theoretical explanation for the important topics which need to be covered in detail along with ample number of previous years’ solved problems which will help in effective study of the concepts covered in the chapter. Also at the end of each chapter self assessment test has been given which will help in practice and self analysis of the level of understanding of the concepts covered in that particular chapter. The book also contains three practice sets which have been designed on the lines of the previous years’ entrance examination pattern of JNU MA Sociology Entrance Examination. To help the aspirants get an insight into the type of questions and the level of questions asked in the examinations, last eight years’ (2008-2015) Solved Papers of MA Sociology Entrance Examination have also been provided in the book. As the book contains ample number of previous years’ solved papers as well as collection of practice material, it for sure will help aspirants clear the upcoming JNU MA Sociology Entrance Exam 2016.
