JOE KIDD :
Joe Kidd is a popular action-movie from an era when Clint Eastwood popularised Western movies. Directed by John Sturges, Clint Eastwood plays the title character of Joe Kidd and is supported by Robert Duvall and John Saxon.
Joe Kidd, a former bounty hunter, is jailed for disturbing peace. An affluent landowner, Frank Harlan forms his own team of posse to capture Chama, a self-claimed revolutionary who fights for peasants and revolts against landowners. Though Kidd initially refuses to join the team, preferring to remain neutral, he finally agrees after learning that Chama had attacked one of his fellow workers.
The team of posse takes hostage of a church at gunpoint and force Chama to surrender, failing which they threaten to kill the hostages. Harlan pushes Kidd into the church to avoid him rescuing Helen, Chama's love interest. Kidd successfully saves the hostages and makes a spectacular escape. The incident pushes Kidd to become resolute in hunting Chama all by himself. When Kidd finally captures Chama, he surprisingly finds Harlan waiting for them at the Sheriff's office.
The movie features typical Western action drama with exciting gunfights. From the director of The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape, John Sturges' Joe Kidd is highly praised for Clint Eastwood's performance and his trademark monotonous dialogue delivery. Joe Kidd was released in 2012 by Universal in a single DVD format. The movie is certified with U rating and has a run time of 88 minutes.
