The regional study of the monuments is an imporatnt method to assess the cultural, social, religious and economic status. In Indian history the Kachchhapaghata dynasty ruled over an area comprising of the modern districts of Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri and Guna of modern Madhya Pradesh. Thay supplanted the early ruler of the region specially the Gurjara-Pratiharas.The present text is an outcome of the extensive scientific survey of the monuments built in Kachchhapaghata territory and neighbouring regions.

Dr Ahmed Ali obtained M.A degree in Ancient Indian History Culture and Archaeology in First Class, holding Merit from Bhopal University, Bhopal in 1987. He also P.G Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management from the same university in 1985. He was appointed Technical Assistant in Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Govt of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, in 1989; In this capacity participated in the archaeological excavations and explorations; prepared several reports and was also incharge of the Archaeological Museum at Kasrawad.
