For instance you pick up a phone, to make a call, you would check if there is a dialing tone, then afterwards you dial your number, then you wait for a response / reply. Before Elijah prayed on Mount Carmel, he took certain steps and afterward when he prayed he got an instant answer, the fire fell and the glory of God came down.
