Author Info | - Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born in the Bengali hamlet of Veerasingh in the Medinipur district to an extremely underprivileged Brahmin family. Father's name was Thakurdas Vandyopadhyay. The smart youngster had inherited the impoverished father's desire in study. The youngster and his father moved to Kolkata when he was nine to begin their study at the Sanskrit College. Ishwarchandra won first place in practically all of his exams despite being physically unwell, facing great financial difficulty, and having a lot of homework. After completing Fort William College in 1841, I was appointed to the position of Chief Pandit with a monthly salary of fifty rupees. Then he was given the honorific title "Vidyasagar." Lokmat provided the address for "Danveer Sagar." He was named co-editor of the Sanskrit College in 1846.
