Know-How is a book on leadership and eight crucial skills to staying on top by Ram Charan.
Summary of the Book
This book discusses the eight skills which separate the performers from the ordinary people. Ram Charan explains that these skills are easy to master and their execution is what makes winners what they are. The skills are: Positioning, or channeling ideas towards a customer's needs and converting these ideas into profits, Detecting Patterns, or determining key variables which become hurdles for growth, Managing the social system, or transforming the work environment to improve coordination and help people make timely decisions, Selecting and deselecting people, or identifying talent, Leading your management team, or delegating right tasks to the managers, Setting goals, or quantifying progress in a right direction, and Dealing with external parties, or reducing external noise and its effect on internal business affairs. This book shows how each of the eight skills is crucial to building a strong leadership foundation and how failure to comply will result in catastrophic consequences.
