Summary of the Book

In a dystopian future, the Republic is a nation forever at war with its neighbours, standing on the remnants of the Western United States. June is a fifteen-year-old prodigy who is being primed for a role in the Republic's highest military circles. June comes from one of the most elite families in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, and her future is bright and promising. In sharp contrast, Day is born in a slum and at 15, he’s the most wanted criminal in the country. Despite his apparently criminal inclinations, Day is not as malevolent as he seems. June and Day are seemingly destined to never meet, but in a twist of fate, Day is blamed for the murder of Metias, June’s brother. June begins a crazed hunt for Day and soon, these two dissimilar teenagers are drawn together. However, what they will discover together is that not everything is what it seems in the Republic, and nothing is too sinister to keep its secrets hidden.
