The lesser known plants have helped to conserve the biodiversity as they are still growing in their native habitats and giving benefits to the people living in the proximity. However, this knowledge has hitherto remained localized and needs to be revitalized. The LKPs conservation cultivation, marketing and sustainable utilization if designed appropriately can improve rural livelihoods , provide food and health security and achieve the objectives of bio-diversity conservation.
