Prof C. Somashekher is a senior Professor of Sociology at Bangalore University, Bangaluru since 1990 and currently he is serving as the Registrar of Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi. He obtained his doctoral degree in the area of Sociology of Professions and Occupations from Gulbarga University. He is well known for several of books and research articles published in the journals of national and international repute. He has visited Canada, Sweden, Australia and South Africa important academic and professional engagements. He is an active member of International Sociological Association, Indian Sociological Society and office bearer of Karnataka Sociology Association. Successfully he has guided large number of doctoral and M. Phil scholars in diverse areas of Sociological specialization during his long teaching career studded with many important milestones of achievements. He has held several administrative positions that call for highest responsibility with dedication and distinction. He has served as the Registrar of Davangere University, Davangere, Director of Dr. Ambedkar Research and Study Centre, Chairman of P.G. Department of Sociology at prestigious Bangalore University. He has served as the Chairman, Member and Member Secretary of various Boards, Councils and Committees of academic and administrative importance including All India Banking Recruitment Board.
