Description
Tips for Growing Calendula
Days to Germinate: 10 to 14
Germination Temperature: 16 to 25 °C
Sowing Media / Soil Type: Any
Sowing Depth: 1/4 in.
Sowing Method: Direct sow, transplant recommended
Water: Moderately depending upon the soil and climatic conditions – keep the soil moist but not too wet
Sun: Prefers full sun
Notes: Cover the seed as light inhibits germination. Needs total darkness to germinate, do not sow seed where it can receive light. Sow in moderately rich and well-drained soil. Keep the seedlings well-watered during the growing period and once they are established mulch with well-rotted manure to keep weeds down and encourage good flower production. Readily self sows. Don’t crowd, give them full sun. Deadhead to keep blooms coming and make the patch more attractive or try succession plantings. Can be sown in situ.
