About the Author: Lakshmi Narasimhan Ranganathan, DM (Neurology), DNB (Neurology), PhD, FAAN, FRCP (London, Glasgow), FIAN, MNAMS (Neurology) is presently working as the Director and Professor, Institute of Neurology, Madras Medical College, Chennai. He is a globally well-known eminent teacher of clinical neurology. He has been the organizer of SHINE (Specialized Highly Intensive Neuro-Education) conference for 10 consecutive years, which attracts more than 500 neurology postgraduates across Asia. He has trained and certified a large number of DM Neurology students across the country. He is the state nodal officer for stroke in Tamil Nadu, under the TAEI program-SCRIPT initiative. Dr Lakshmi Narasimhan has received several awards and accolades and among them are the prestigious Fellow of American Academy of Neurology and Fellow of Royal College of Physicians, London in 2018 and Glasgow in 2020; Fellow of Indian Academy of Neurology in 2019; Best Scientist Award by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, 2017; Atlas Award from Elsevier for the best published article in 2015; Best Teacher Award from The Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University 2012; A.B. Baker award of the American Academy of Neurology for the "Global Best Teacher" in 2009; and Palatucci award winner from the American Academy of Neurology in 2006. Moreover, he has more than 100 publications and 20 book chapters in national and international journals to his credit. He is the CME convenor of Indian Academy of Neurology for the past couple of years. Dr Lakshmi Narasimhan is the editor of Reviews in Neurology and South Asian edition of Dejong's The Neurologic Examination. He is also the member of the Editorial Board of Epilepsy group of Cochrane and has six Cochrane reviews to his credit.
