    Soil Nutrient Requirements
    • A good potting medium for lotus is a soil mixture about 60 percent clay and 40 percent river sand. Leave about 3 to 4 inches (7.6 to 10.2 cm) between the top of the soil and the rim of your container. You can also use amended soil, with a separate layer of sand 2 to 3 inches (5.1 to 7.6 cm) deep on top.
    Sowing Method
    • Gently place the lotus seedling in the soil and add an inch or two of water above the soil as your lotus grows, taking care to replenish any evaporated water. Your seedling should be placed in a bright, sunny location (8 hours + sunlight daily).
