Machine Component Design is a comprehensive book for undergraduate mechanical engineers. The book has been designed for a one or two semester course in machine design. It teaches students about the basic principles of design, helping them understand how bodies take loads and feel stresses. About the Authors

Robert C. Juvinall was professor emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. A Medical undergraduate, Dr. Juvinall took up postgraduate studies in mechanical engineering.

Kurt M. Marshek is professor emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Marshek graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
