Otto H. Konigsberger was an architect in Germany, who mainly worked in the urban development planning in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. His Manual of Tropical Housing and Building is published in myriad languages and is a standard course textbook in several parts of the world. He was also the head of the Department of Tropical Studies and Development at Architectural Association in London. In 1989, he was amongst the first ones to receive the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour, which is considered the most prestigious award for the excellent work carried out in the human settlements development field. The other co-authors this book are T. G. Ingersoll, Alan Mayhew and S. V. Szokolay.
