    About Martin Gardner

    Martin Gardner is an eminent American author, mathematician and writer. He is well-known for his attempts to bring Popular Mathematics and Science Journalism to a layman’s backyard. Born in 1914, he completed his graduation in Philosophy at the University of Chicago. He began his career as a reporter for the Tulsa Tribune and later worked as a writer with the UC Office of Press Relations. He was also associated with Chicago's Black Belt as a case employee. He got a chance to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. He then moved back to New York City and began working with the Humpty Dumpty magazine as a writer. He penned several stories and articles during the time. His works on paper-folding riddles led him to his subsequent journey towards Scientific American for which he wrote a column on recreational mathematics. Some of his notable books are The Ambidextrous Universe, The Annotated Alice, My Best Mathematical and Logic Puzzles, Perplexing Puzzles and Tantalizing Teasers, The Magic Numbers of Dr. Matrix, The Colossal Book of Short Puzzles and Problems, Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science, and many more.
