Description

The Ghallib legend, his art, have struck a deeper root with every new decade. The ghazals of the 19th century genius from one of the purest parts of our cultural heritage. His chaste poetry has lended itself to innumerable compositions and recordings, each one with its own specific interpretation.

The Attempts on this serial is to presents Ghalib's ghazals within the context of his life and of his life and of his outlook, both to the people and the conditions around him. In that sense, the ghazals hopefully refelect the spirit of Ghalib and his times in their true essence.

The ghazals written by him should flow with his biography. Jagjit Singh agreed wholeheartedly with this idea. He read the script for the T.V. serial "Mirza Ghalib", and the compositions came Spontaneously.

In sum, this is our very small tribute to the genius of Ghalib.

Note: This is a 2 Disc Set containing Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the serial.

Puts the viewer right in Qasim Street

The combined performance of Nasruddin Shah and Jagjit Singh (Late) is breathtaking. Puts the viewer right in Qasim Street.

The DVD transfer quality is below average. I was hoping the audio quality of the ghazals at least would be to CD standards, as they are already available in Jagjit Singh collections.

To top it all; the so called subtitling. It is atrocious. Someone has vainly tried to translate the ghazals and the dialogs word by word; ending up in total misinterpretation. He has even ...

Exceptional creation - A must have for poetry and music lovers

I bought two sets of this period creation, one after the other, both from Flipkart. The first I gifted to someone I value a lot. To say the least, this is an extraordinary work - First of all, the very subject is so endearing for all those who love poetry. Ghalib at its best

I was reading Ghalib's ghazal sometime back.
Then i heard that there was a movie made on Ghalib which also had ghazals written by him.
I didn't know where to find them.
Luckily i was browsing through flipkart and got hold of this movie.
