  • Description

Multiple Intelligences is a book on human psychology in which Howard Gardner explains his theory of multiple intelligences.

    Summary of the book

Gardner explains that there are seven distinct intelligences in every human being. He outlines his theory which is based on recent developments in cognitive research. These seven types are: Visual-Spatial, Bodily-kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Linguistic, and Logical –Mathematical intelligences. In this book, he outlines the development and characteristics of each type, explaining how an individual is made by a unique blend of these seven types. He also discusses the various factors which influence these intelligences, focussing on exercises and practises used to improve each type. This theory is considered ground-breaking and it is known for proving how limited traditional psychometric views of intelligence are.

Reads like a Scientist walking on eggs.

If I remember right Rajiv Malhotra describes that Howard Gardner derived his "Theory of Multiple Intelligences" from exposure to Indian thought on cognition. Like most Western U-Turners there is no credits section which acknowledges the source of these ideas. The concept of 64 Kala, 14 Vidya may be related to this western spin-off pill.

If you've already read up multiple intelligences then this book might update you on newer findings, research etc.
