My Life in My Words, meticulously researched and edited by Uma Das Gupta, is the autobiography of one of the greatest minds in world literature, Rabindranath Tagore.

    Summary of the Book

My Life in My Words showcases the enormous contribution made by Tagore to the world of literature, thereby launching India on the international platform like never before. The author reflects on his own life, his family background that eventually inspired and shaped him up into a towering personality, the highs and lows of his life, which equally contributed to his insightful works. The book details his contributions to societal values, reforms and education in India. It also portrays the peak of his literary career and his approach to adapt the best from both the Eastern and Western philosophies.

    About Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath Tagore was an Indian poet, writer, and philosopher. His writings are considered the epitome of Bengali literature and several of his short stories and novels have been translated into many languages and have subsequently been adapted into hit movies. He is best remembered for: Gora, Kabuliwala, The Home and the World, and Chokher Bali. He was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, largely for the English translation of the Gitanjali. He was also conferred a knighthood by the British Empire, which he renounced to protest against the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

    Incredible!!

By far the best Autobiography I've ever read! Great work by Uma Das Gupta. This book gives a very good insight into Rabindranath Tagore's life. Despite of his enormous contribution to Indian History, Rabindranath claimed himself to be a mere poet. I wonder why our school or college history books doesn't speak about him. Must Read!!

Worth reading! Go slowly and enjoy the words and poems and symbolism of Tagore....

The interest in the book and life of Mr. Tagore increases as you go further in the book. The interest in the book becomes more deeper when the phase of his teenage begins. You get used to the language of Mr. Tagore as the chapters follows. The Poetic Tagore is just wonderful and makes us wonder about that unique human being called as Rabindranath Tagore!
