Cocopeat primarily consists of the coir fibre pith or coir dust which is obtained by processing coconut husk & fibres. â?¢ The cocopeat which is obtained can hold large quantities of water & nutrients just like a sponge. â?¢ It is used as a replacement for traditional peat in soil mixtures or as a soil-less substrate for plant cultivation. â?¢ It is free of bacteria and most fungal spores, and is sustainably produced without the environmental damage caused by peat mining. â?¢ It is added so that the container retains more moisture for the plants and it reduces the weight on your balcony/terrace. â?¢ Has the ability to store and release nutrient to plants for extended periods of time. â?¢ It also has great oxygenation properties which is important for healthy root development. it looks like a solid brick and powder. Soak it in water and it expands in size. You use it until it becomes moist fluffy powdery. â?¢ each cocopeat block will expand to 75 litres of moist coco peat. It holds water well and around 1000 times more air than soil.
