  • Description

What Nature Does for Britain, by Tony Juniper, introduces readers to a different Britain from the usual perception of the country - the real Britain supported by nature, wildlife and diverse ecosystems at almost every turn.

    Summary of the Book

Juniper presents picturesque first-hand accounts and inspirational examples of how the damage, in terms of the environment, is being taken care of in England. He asserts that Britain is rich in natural capital, but we tend to take supplies of clean water and secure food for granted, seldom thinking about all the free work that nature already does for Britain. The book also discusses how damage has been done to the systems that sustain us through rigorous farming, drainage of bogs, deforestation, and meddling with rivers by transforming them into canals. It analyses how the ways in which we meet our requirements does not make any economic sense most of the time.
