    Superb Lens

I am sure anyone who is contemplating buying this lens would have weighed the option of buying between this or the 1.8 D/G lens. First of all, if you already have a 1.8 version, I would recommend selling this and then buying a 1.4 version, since you won't be using both. I had a 1.8D lens and i gave it away.

When it comes to buying this lens the most important reason I bought it was for the bokeh, at 1.4 the speed is excellent and much faster in terms of focusing even when compared to most ...

Awesome lens (1.4 and autofocus) + great for videos

Nikkor f1.4 50mm is a really good portrait prime lens and even more better for making videos. This is AF lens, so needs a motor in the body for autofocus.
If you have an older body and need autofocus, go buy the AF-S piece which is almost 80% more in price.
This AF without SWM is as fast as the AF-S model. So it's a better buy if you have a body with motor. Less moving parts for AF in lens means lesser issues in lifetime.

Again 85-105mm is best for portraits, but 50mm is good inside a studio...

    Good, Fast lens

    About Flipcart experience:
Even thought it was mentioned that the lens may take 7-9 working days, it was delivered in 3 days, in Bangalore. Packaging was good and secure, the delivery man was courteous and pleasant. No hassles during any stage of the purchase.

    About the lens:
It is an excellent lens at this price. I bought it for my Nikon D90 body. To view sample images shot with this lens and other info, see my blog post: wander-mind.blogspot.com/2011/10/lens-review-nikkor-50mm-f14d-on-niko...

    Excellent for low light photography

I like taking handheld pics without flash. I found this lens to be immensely practical on my D7100. I was trying to decide if i wanted to get the 1.8d or 1.4d, but found that 1.4d is much sharper at higher f-stops and decided to do with the 1.4d. I also like the macro shots possible with this lens when you use a reversal ring. The manual aperture control ring that you don't get in the new gelded series of lenses 1.4g is a added bonus in this scenario. Lens also have relatively very little dis...

Small - Light - Fast - Sharp lens

If you have a D90 (or any camera which has the SWM) it's a brilliant buy and value for money. You won't regret it! It's pretty quick and good for low light shots as well.

It's a good lens for portrait / product photography.

    For the serious photographer

This lens is made specifically for portraits and is not a general lens. So, if you're looking for a lens that meets your everyday purpose this is not for you.

Back to the lens- its simply excellent. At 1.4, it performs well under low light conditions. The bokeh is amazing. It suits well for parties, weddings or any other people event where you are not going to be too far away from the subject. If you have a full frame camera you can get closer to the subject without getting the image cropped...

    Superb Lens

Superb Lens from Nikon. One of the economical, proven(introduced in 1995) fullframe lens from Nikon which offers a great deal for the money. This lens works on DX format cameras as well, has a bright maximum aperture for low light and depth-of-field work.
As usual, prompt, quick and safe delivery from flipkart.

    Super!

genuine product. I received it in the fifth day. For me it is sharp enough even at 1.4 aperture. AF is fast though 50mm 1.8G's AF is faster. Colour rendition is better than 50mm 1.8G though contrast is less. It has more microcontrast than 1.8G. This lens has some colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, little more than 1.8G. The DOF is even shallower than 1.8G because of it's bigger 1.4 aperture. Overall the picture quality is great, specially and more importantly, photographs made using t...

    Q:it will fit 3400
A:Yes it will fit D3400 but it won’t autofocus. You need to use it as manual focus lens only. I would recommend the Nikon 50mm 1.8G or 35mm DX 1.8G instead.

Q:What's difference in quality between nikon f/1.4G and f/1.4D and is it compatible with nikon D7500?
A:1.4 d has separate aperture ring. so aperture can be controlled from both camera and in lens. in 1.4 g aperture ring is not present. so aperture can be controlled only through lens.
