  • Description
One of the BBC's '100 Novels That Shaped Our World' 'Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past' Hidden away in the Record Department of the sprawling Ministry of Truth, Winston Smith skilfully rewrites the past to suit the needs of the Party. Yet he inwardly rebels against the totalitarian world he lives in, which demands absolute obedience and controls him through the all-seeing telescreens and the watchful eye of Big Brother, symbolic head of the Party. In his longing for truth and liberty, Smith begins a secret love affair with a fellow-worker Julia, but soon discovers the true price of freedom is betrayal. George Orwell's dystopian masterpiece, Nineteen Eighty-Four is perhaps the most pervasively influential book of the twentieth century.

One of the greatest book of all times...

The delivery was on time and the quality of the packaging was superb.
Coming to the condition of the book,it is a penguin classic..it's pages are a little yellowish but i don't have a problem with that and that is what I love about books and their smell.
And what I can say about the great George Orwell..perhaps "1984" is one of the best novels ever written..definitely a book to read in your lifetime .
    Thanks Flipkart.

    Excellent

Great book quality, font and content, with an introduction by American novelist Thomas Pynchon (Penguin Modern Classics). Although other editions are cheaper, Penguin editions are not disappointing.

Quality of the book is good. As far as the content is concerned...one of the most terrifying books I have read in recent times. A must read book in my opinion.

    Does the job

1984 is a chilling recount of a dystopian world and the terrifying ramifications that it would have not only on the lives of an individual but on the society,in general. It is a must read for it makes one appreciate the necessity of free will.
