  • Description

No Full Stops in India presents essays written by Mark Tully about beautiful places, human realities and issues that are a looming threat to the idea of India, based on the wisdom of an ancient civilization.

    Summary of the Book

Through several unrelated stories, No Full Stops in India brings out the deep insights of the author about a land with indigenous traditions and wisdom. Tully writes about Calcutta, the Kumbh Mela, the effect of televising a great Hindu epic, Deorala sati, and the less-known stories of Jangarh Singh and Ram Chander among other things. Delightful

"If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India."

    - Max Mueller

Reading Mark Tully is like reading about real India. He is amongst one of those few good and honest writers who didn't shy away from calling 'A Spade A Spade', and that's what I liked about him.

In fact he is brutally honest when it comes to exposing the hypocrisy of th...

On my top priority to suggest to my friends.

It presents a better view of India. It explains the 'cause - action - result' sequence of some of the important events / functionaries in a very clear and broader outlook. He presents 'what Indian / hindusthani is...?' and 'what India wanted...?' Very good book. Read a sample, I am sure, you will read full.

He laments the negligent outlook of the countrymen towards the poor and deprived.
The book , strong in its virtue , is very moving and stimulating. Its confident approach towards the poverty of the cou...
