Summary of the Book
Through several unrelated stories, No Full Stops in India brings out the deep insights of the author about a land with indigenous traditions and wisdom. Tully writes about Calcutta, the Kumbh Mela, the effect of televising a great Hindu epic, Deorala sati, and the less-known stories of Jangarh Singh and Ram Chander among other things. The book tries to describe the vitality of the real India and the fine texture of Indianness through the zealous stories.
About Mark Tully
Mark Tully was born in Calcutta, in 1935. He was the Chief of Bureau, BBC, New Delhi, for more than two decades. His brilliant broadcasting career includes him being the frequent presenter of the BBC Radio 4 programme, Something Understood. Tully was knighted in 2002. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award in 2005. Some of his notable works include The Heart of India, India’s Unending Journey, and India in Slow Motion. He currently lives in New Delhi.
