  • Description

In a fantasy-version of our world, humans control daemons in the form of animals. A young girl and her daemon begin a fight against a villain who plans to use children in fatal experiments in Northern Lights, the first book in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials fantasy series.

    Summary of the Book

Eleven year old Lyra Pullman is a student at Jordan College, Oxford. The world she lives in is very much like our own, except for the fact that humans are accompanied by unique daemons. Lyra’s daemon, Pantalaimon is her only companion since the airship crash which cost her parents their lives. Lyra believes that her uncle, Lord Asriel, is as respectable a man as society assumes. When she discovers that he is plotting to use children in a nefarious experiment involving their daemons, she sets off on an adventure that will test her control over her powers and her will to survive once and for all.
