  • Description

Notes from a Small Room brings a collection of essays written by Ruskin Bond.

    Summary of the Book

This book celebrates the uncomplicated pleasures of a life well-lived. It explains how the simplest of the joys keeps us from going crazy. Bond explains how the smallest joyous moments move him immensely – the sound of a tropical downpour, the fragrance of the lime trees in the Himalayas, or even a year he spends with Suzie, his cat. The essays in this volume will take you on a quieter journey where time doesn’t move hastily. They will make you contemplate on the bigger questions, those that help you find the extraordinary in the mundane, the grandeur in the simplest of the things.

    A nice book.

My words would put to shame, if I am to praise the lyrical yet captivating way of writing of Ruskin Bond. It will give one the most pleasurable moments, enough to make one smile, in his/her severe melancholy. I like the author and all his writings, that I have read over the years. Must buy for all the (rusty)/Ruskin Lovers..

    A Delighful Book

Ruskin Bond's writing has always been easy on the reader and very enjoyable, and this book is no different. It has many short stories that beautifully describe the most mundane things in the most fascinating of ways. His love for nature and his quiet life set the tone for the writing. Read it one story at a time, and you may find yourself taken away to a different world where the pace of life is slower and joy is found in the little things. It has been a very delightful and peace inducing read.

    Greatness of small things

Bond is not a philosopher, he is a man of letters and in these short moving, poignant pieces he has actually given lyrical expression to his visions, and reflections upon life. little are the things that contain within them potential for greatness and instead of reading the trash spiritual manuals, one will be immensely benefited from walking with Bond and learning the simple lesson that greatness lies in recognizing the meaning and value of the smaller things of life which the egocentric ma...

Ruskin Bond writing what he writes best

The reason why we all love Ruskin Bond's writings is his mesmerizing writing and a simple yet inquisitive depiction of everyday events. And he has done exactly that in this book. A must buy for Ruskin Bond fans like me !

The writing about his pet cat, Suzie (featured in the picture on the book) is one of the best in this book.
