  • Description
Notes from Underground is one of Dostoevsky’s most influential works, often considered the first existential novel. Written in 1864, the novella is a powerful exploration of the human psyche and the contradictions of the human condition. It is presented as a memoir of a bitter and isolated retired civil servant living in St. Petersburg, known only as the Underground Man. The narrative is divided into two parts: the first, "Underground," is a monologue in which the protagonist critiques society, rationalism, and his own existence. The second part, "Apropos of the Wet Snow," provides a narrative of his interactions with others, showcasing his self-destructive behaviour and deep-seated alienation.

    Sick, Spiteful as it says

This is the work of Russian writer, philosopher Fyodor Dostoevsky. This is like a confession made by the person about the past mistakes done by him. The book is divided into two parts: the first part of the book is completely a monologue; the second part of the book is about his interactions with the society. This novel explores various emotions of humans like love, greed, jealousy, wrath, self-hate etc. It is said that Dostoevsky’s character in this novel is one of the greatest anti-heroes e...

    Psycho-philosophical novel

One of the best work of Dostoevsky. More than reading you will introspect on your own life. Its a journey of self-realization.

    Worth reading.

    Awesome

The book was well delivered. And this is the best translation available for this work. Notes From Underground has influenced several writers and philosphers, including Kafka and Nietzsche. Whoever is interested in knowing the human mind, existential themes like life, moral ambiguity, society, power, etc. may find this book Influential. I have got it at 371 from Trans Info.
