THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD 'BOOK OF THE YEAR' AN ACCLAIMED WEST END THEATRE PRODUCTION ***** 'Neil Gaiman's entire body of work is a feat of elegant sorcery. He writes with such assurance and originality that the reader has no choice but to surrender to a waking dream' ARMISTEAD MAUPIN 'Some books just swallow you up, heart and soul' JOANNE HARRIS 'Summons both the powerlessness and wonder of childhood, and the complicated landscape of memory and forgetting' GUARDIAN --- 'My favourite response to this book is when people say, 'My childhood was nothing like that - and it was as if I was reading about me' NEIL GAIMAN --- This is what he remembers, as he sits by the ocean at the end of the lane: A dead man on the back seat of the car, and warm milk at the farmhouse. An ancient little girl, and an old woman who saw the moon being made. A beautiful housekeeper with a monstrous smile. And dark forces woken that were best left undisturbed. They are memories hard to believe, waiting at the edges of things. The recollections of a man who thought he was lost but is now, perhaps, remembering a time when he was saved . . . NEIL GAIMAN. WITH STORIES COME POSSIBILITIES. --- **Includes an interview with Neil Gaiman on creating the world of the novel**

    Gaiman's Masterpiece

Beautifully written, the book is a breath of fresh air; something that is characteristic of Neil Gaiman. He paints his inspiration in ink and leaves his readers with the most raw and potent images he can. The Ocean at the End of the Lane is a magnificent addition to his earlier work and firmly establishes and reaffirms why the author is regarded as one of the finest Fantasy writers alive.

I might be biased in my opinion, but as someone who reads a LOT of fantasy, it's always a pleasure to re...

    Go back to your childhood.

An amazing book. The importance is to the storyline, not the language. So hardcore literary fanatics please stay away. Its all about the innocence and the vivid imagination of a child brought back in a world of magic by Neil Gaiman. A must read for fantasy novel lovers.

    Read at your own risk......

It is a bedtime story you would tell to your nephews so they can sleep... From the starting till the end plot seems very week but the writing style is very good.... There are places in the book where you would not understand the reason behind that particular situation.

I read this book only because it was goodreads fantasy award winner for 2013, never thought it would be that bad....

I would read at your own risk, I won't recommend it...
