    This book presents a hybrid technique combining Quasi-Oppositional with Enhanced BAT (QO-EB) algorithm to solve both convex and non-convex nature of the economic load dispatch (ELD) problems of thermal power generating units considering transmission losses and constraints such as power balance, valve-point loading and prohibited operating zones. This book shows the feasibility of hybrid technique for solving ELD problems of 3-unit, 6-unit, 15-unit, 40 unit and 140-unit systems. A qualitative comparison of the obtained result with the other standard population-based meta-heuristic techniques manifests the superiority of the above proposed Quasi-Oppositional Enhanced BAT Optimization Algorithm.

    • Dr. P. D. Dewangan is graduated from Govt. Engineering College, Raipur (Presently National Institute of Technology Raipur, India in 1990 with B.E. (honurs) in Electrical Engineering. He received M.Tech. Degree in Integrated Power System in Electrical Engineering in 2000 from VRCE, Nagpur (Presently Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur) India. He received Ph. D. degree for his thesis entitled, “ Continuous Interval Systems: Reduced-Order Modelling and Controller Design “, in 2021 from National Institute of Technology Raipur, India. Currently, he is working as Associate Professor at National Institute of Technology Raipur, India. His research interests include model order reduction and power systems.
