One of the best books that I have ever come across after Routledge, Michael Alexander, Sanders and Long on History of British Literature. It's not only good from NET point of view but also gives a good overview tracing various literary development throughout the ages till 1960s. What it really lacks is a comprehensive discussion on Postmodern literatures, which most of the books lack except Sanders and Routledge, for which one can go for Postmodern Literatures by Avishek Parul.
