As one of the major releases of 1962, Padithal Mattum Podhuma is a high intensity family drama that takes you through a whirlwind of emotions and the way people go about dealing with their biggest and most unforeseen troubles.  Directed by the esteemed Beemsingh, the movie revolves around three main characters which are played by Sivaji, Balaji and Savitri.

Padithal Mattum Podhuma, when translated into English means, is education alone sufficient, has a plot that deals with the turbulent relationship between two brothers and how things take a turn for the worse when a woman gets involved. The education factor comes into play when one of the brothers who is just a high school dropout is tricked into marrying a highly educated woman by his brother and later suffers a series of setbacks that he has to endure. Greed, jealousy and deceit are the most prominent and recurring factors that give the movie a much needed flow and its acclaimed emotional dimension. 

With a highly memorable soundtrack provided by the team of music directors in Vishwanathan and Ramamoorthy, the movie also features commendable performances of other popular actors which include Muthuraman, M.R.Radha and Raja Sulochana.
