Javed Jabbar has diverse interests in writing, film-making, media, international and national affairs and voluntary work. He is a member of the longest-running (since 1991), quiet, non-media-reported India-Pakistan Track II Dialogue known as the Neemrana Initiative. He has served as Minister in three Federal Cabinets of Pakistan including tenures with Benazir Bhutto, Meraj Khalid and General Pervez Musharraf and as a Senator for a 6-year term. He has drafted several progressive laws and policies including the PEMRA law which introduced private electronic media to Pakistan and the Freedom of Information law. He lectures at leading universities, research centres and think-tanks in Pakistan as well as overseas.
