The author of this book, Barun K Mitra, was also a former lecturer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Apart from this book, the author has written another book, Effective Technical Communication, which is aimed at equipping scientists and engineers to exchange technical information in the form of reports and papers.

In the past 30 years of his career as an educator, the author has spoken to a number of students, teaching them effective communication skills. Apart from being a lecturer, the author has also been a part of the South Asia Hankes Foundation, Kolkata, holding the post of a director and vice president. He also led the scientists and engineers through a language project.
