| Author Info | - A well known poet, artist, story writer Kalamayee Smt Alaka Daspatnaik was born at Gorumahisahani, in the district of Mayurbhanj in Odisha.
Through her childhood she had been attracted to art, literature and music. She would do sketches, paintings and stitching from time to time.
She publisehd her first collection of Odiya poems ‘Gala Dina’ (Of Days gone by) that got published in Nagpur in 1997.
Over a period of time, she published many more books in Odiya such as Amabasya ra Nayika (The heroine of the new moon night), Anya Akasha (A different sky), Chuna Chuna Phula (A collection of flowers), Sesha Pahacha (The last step), Padarabinda (At His Lotus Feet).
In her journey as an author, she received many awards and accolades, such as Kalamayee, Pallisheree, Kalinga Kavi, Kavi Surabhi, Kusuma Prabha, Kanta Kavi LaxmiKanta, Prakriti Kavi Kuntala Kumari Sabat Awards to name a few.
Her poetry book ‘Amabasya ra Nayika’ was translated in Hindi as ‘Amaawas ki Nayika’ by Padmashree Dr. Srinivas Udgata.
Her first collection of Hindi poems named, ‘Abhilasha’ which has major poems dedicated to her beloved Lord Krishna is available on Amazon.
Her work was appreciated by many readers and publishers. She got known as a poet who can write poems with in-depth feelings, emotions and deep spiritual meaning using simple words. Her poems found space in various Odiya magazines and her readership has grown.
Her latest published Odia poetry book is 'Phula Mauchhaba' which means a collection of flowers.
