About S. L. Loney

Sidney Luxton Loney was an English academician and the Professor of Mathematics at the Royal Holloway College, University of London. A fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, Loney authored a set of mathematics and physics texts which have gone on to become the definitive texts in the subjects. Primary among these are: The Elements of Coordinate Geometry (Parts 1 and 2), Plane Trigonometry, (Parts 1 and 2) and The Elements of Statics and Dynamics (Parts 1 and 2).

A graduate of Maidstone Grammar College and Sidney Sussex College, Prof. Loney is considered to be an early influence on the eminent mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
