  • Description
‘. . . being a player from India defines who I am. When I play, it’s for my parents, my coach, and my country.’ Meet Saina Nehwal—India’s star badminton player and World Number 4, Padma Shri and Khel Ratna awardee, the girl who brought laurels to India by winning an Olympic medal at the age of twenty-two. In this fascinating memoir, she talks about her childhood and growing–up years; her relationship with the most important people in her life; the ups and downs of her celebrated career, from district level wins to the Olympics; and the sacrifices needed to succeed in any sport. She also reveals little-known facts and offers a peek into her many avatars—daughter, sister, student, and the regular girl behind the badminton prodigy. Find out what a typical day in Saina’s life is like—rigorous training, a strict diet, and no parties or sleepovers. But it’s not all work and no play; Saina loves to shop, eat ice cream (post wins only), and play games on her iPad! With candid photographs and badminton tips from the pro herself, this book showcases the making of a badminton champ—in her own words.

    INSPIRING.

Playing to Win is a very inspirational book and well-written too. Saina Nerwal is in my opinion, a true athelete who India is very proud of. It's a thin book with 100 something pages (which include photos of Saina) which can be read in about an hour, leaving the reader to feel inspired and in awe of the wonderful badminton star who wrote the book.

I didn't order this book on Flipkart and i regret that cause i would've really liked an autographed copy because like all those millions of Indian...

    Liked it

It's pretty good actually. This guy above Gary, i don't know what he is saying, must haven't read the book. it's a really nice book. And about her english Gary, if you ever watched saina nehwal's interview she speaks very fluent and clear english. So don't relate anything to her being not studied too far.

Anyway, i just received this book today and i give 5 stars to both the flipkart delievery and this book.

Nice book with details of a badminton player's tough life

This is the second book that I am reading about Saina. First one was "An Inspirational
    Biography" which was good.

This autobiography is a nice one, will written. I liked it. Details of the sacrifices that one
has to do to reach this level of Badminton is really interesting to know. One thing I liked in this book is that the highs and lows are mentioned in a very mature way. Sacrifices her family did for her to reach this level is also detailed. The amazing feeling of a sports person at Ol...

    Good to know from her

Eventhough the web is flooded with information and images of Saina. This book is great to know that from her own words. The pictures in the book depicts her family in and off the court. Its good to have this book if you are an Indian lover of sports.
