About P. S Bimbhra

P. S Bimbhra is a retired professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.
Bimbhra is a Punjab Engineering College graduate, he went on to pursue his M.E (Hons) and Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He has authored two other books, Electrical Machinery and Generalized Theory of Electrical Machines.

Good book but with lack of some topics

It is a good book for beginners of power electronics but mathematical derivations are cumbersome.There are few discrepancies in waveforms.But this book lacks practical emphasis.And some concepts like pulse width modulation inverters,DeMoran's chopper,Jones chopper etc., are absent or not clearly explained.So after reading this book read Rashid,Bose etc.,Ah! I forgot about this book Power electronics:converters applications and design by Robbins and Undeland.This is also a good book.

Very good book..

-New edition is colored(nice).
-New chapters are included.
-Perfect for Academic exams.
-If you are preparing for PSU's, this book is enough.(many direct questions from book)
-For GATE and IES exams,this one is very useful and also refer Muhmmad rashid(second priority)
-Dont go on reffering many textbooks for any Competitive exam.Get a standard book and be perfect on it..
-It has plenty of examples and Objectives questions..
-Power Electronics by Bhimbra is very good book and just go for it.

Great book !

The author has explained every concept in a lucid manner and he begins from the basics. He has also included a good amount of mcqs in the end of the book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone learning power electronics.
