A warm one-time read
The moment I turned the last page of this book, the first thought that struck my mind was- How did I actually read it? Being more of a romance reader, I was expecting to see more love emergence between the two main protagonists, Vivek and Keya, however it didn't come across as strongly as I had wished.

Should keep you hooked till the end
In these days of romance brews, Parinda Joshi's novel 'Powerplay' comes as a fresh change into the world of business, glamour and cricket and of course a bit of love and much high intensity drama!

Impressive tale of corporate politics
I was expecting this to be a cricket thriller, something I had read from Geeta Sundaram on the IPL titled 'Killer League.' However, 'Power Play' proved to be a mishmash of corporate politics, subdued love affairs, bonds of friendship and tale of betrayals.

Astonishing work by an upcoming writer
My first impression about this was that another writer is trying to piggyback on all the IPL drama- fixing, sex, drugs, etc. but I was mistaken. The cricket part is not the story but the story actually lies in the corporate environment surrounding it. And that's what makes it all the more exciting!

Powerplay is a relatively simple read even though it plays on complicated notions of corruption, backstabbing and all the things that have been done before but aren't easy to do. Parinda Joshi has written a very realistic story and has not tried to do anything out of the extraordinary. Sometimes this works for a writer, sometimes it doesn't. The thing I liked about Powerplay is that it doesn't attempt to be something that it is not. It isn't a larger than life book, it is a simple tale that happens/has happened in India before. So what makes it unique still?

A to the point corporate thriller
I wasn't impressed by Parinda Joshi's first book but somehow Parinda managed to change my perception of her writing through her second one. The real power of story-telling
I was pleasantly surprised to come across this corporate thriller titled 'Powerplay.' It came across as a fresh change from the book I have read recently. Engrossing read that doesn't disappoint
Some books come as a surprise (pleasant one, I mean!) and Powerplay was definitely one of them! Originally themed as a cricket meets business tips love story, Powerplay also has a lot of other ingredients added in copious amounts to keep the reader engrossed till the very end.

I'm not much of a cricket fan, so I wasn't sure I was going to like this book when I laid my hands on it but I was in for a surprise.
