  • Description
In 1859, Bernhard Riemann, a little-known thirty-two year old mathematician, made a hypothesis while presenting a paper to the Berlin Academy titled "On the Number of Prime Numbers Less Than a Given Quantity." Today, after 150 years of careful research and exhaustive study, the Riemann Hyphothesis remains unsolved, with a one-million-dollar prize earmarked for the first person to conquer it. Alternating passages of extraordinarily lucid mathematical exposition with chapters of elegantly composed biography and history, Prime Obsession is a fascinating and fluent account of an epic mathematical mystery that continues to challenge and excite the world.

    Good Book

I read this book a few years ago at a library and wanted to own a copy and so I bought it and according to me, this is "THE" best book on this problem. There's another book "Music of the Primes" -- that comes close but I'd go for this book (It's like 51 to this book & 49 to the other one). Overall, a gem for any one interested to read about prime numbers and of course "The greatest UNSOLVED problems in Mathematics"

The high price is not justified

I got this book for 120 INR from a book stall a couple of years ago. I have finished reading it. While it is a great read for people interested about the Reimann Hypothesis, the pricing of the book on flipkart is almost 10 times of its actual cost.

Fantastic Book on The Most Difficult Mathematical Problem.

Ok. I really don't know how many people have heard of this Riemann Hypothesis but I can easily guess there will be only a handful of people. As of Now, Riemann Hypothesis (RH)is the "most important (and the most difficult) problem" yet to be solved. The problem first posed in 1859 by Riemann. And its been remained unsolved since then! It is very difficult to express RH to non-mathematical audience.
Perhaps this book is the only book which explain RH in basic terms and that too in a very lucid...
