Author Info | - Gauranga Das is a leadership and mindfulness coach based in Mumbai. After graduating in BTech from IIT Bombay in 1993, he found his calling to become a monk. As a monk, he is dedicated to helping people transform their hearts, improve their attitudes, establish sustainable and spiritual communities, and drive positive change in society. As a monk, he is a spiritual and mindful meditation expert, strategic character educationist, sustainability and climate change warrior, and social welfare catalyst with a mission to create a value-based society. Das is a global duty officer at International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), where he works actively to improve leadership and governance of temples and communities globally. He has also led several youth empowerment initiatives while successfully inculcating within thousands of youth across the world clarity in purpose, purity in character and compassion in relationships. He sits on the board of Govardhan school of Public Leadership, an institution that trains future bureaucrats and public leaders. Das has coached leadership at various corporations and given keynote speeches at universities internationally. His mission is to establish academic study of philosophy and Vedic literature in India through the Bhaktivedanta Research Centre, Mumbai, which is affiliated to Mumbai University, and in Kolkata. The centre has a library of 25,000 ancient books and manuscripts. Das is also the director of the Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV) which was founded by H.H. Radhanath Swami Maharaja. The GEV, representing India, won the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Award in 2017 for its innovative model of 'eco-tourism as a catalyst for rural development'. Das strategized and led the execution of GEV's synergistic solution for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for climate change. He enabled the GEV's accreditation to United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) and United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and won over thirty-four national and international prestigious awards and recognition. Das is also an experienced chef and mega kitchen strategist. He has personally cooked over three million meals. He inaugurated the Govardhan Annakshetra programme at GEV with the intention to distribute free and sanctified food among the pilgrims and villagers in Palghar district and to work closely with the government, corporates and other like-minded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to enable a hunger-free Palghar.
